Huma Qureshi was born into a Muslim family in New Delhi, where her father ran a well-known chain of restaurants and her mother was a homemaker. While studying history at Gargi College, University of Delhi, she became involved in theatre and stage productions — experiences that shaped her early acting skills.
After moving to Mumbai, she signed a two-year contract with Hindustan Unilever to appear in television commercials. During a Samsung mobile ad shoot, filmmaker Anurag Kashyap noticed her performance and offered her a film deal, launching her cinematic career in Gangs of Wasseypur (2012). This debut earned her critical praise and a Filmfare nomination for Best Supporting Actress.
