Ishita Moitra was born 8 August 1983 in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh.
In her schooling, she initially did Science stream (PCBC: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computers) in 11-12 grade even though many expected Humanities. But she realized early that writing was her calling.
She pursued Journalism honours from Delhi University and later Mass Communication from Jamia Millia Islamia (Jamia MCRC) in Delhi.
Interned during studies at Asian Age, India Today, and Outlook. These experiences sharpened her skills in feature writing, and introduced her to film festivals and world cinema.
Around age ~22, she made the move to Mumbai to step into the film industry. The transition was deliberate: she wasn’t entirely sure whether she’d write about films or for films initially, but gradually the latter became her focus.
