Born in Machilipatnam, Andhra Pradesh, Jagapathi Babu was raised in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He is the son of renowned film producer-director V. B. Rajendra Prasad. Babu made his acting debut as a child artist in the Telugu film “Manchi Manushulu” (1974). His breakthrough came with the film “Gaayam” (1993), directed by Ram Gopal Varma, which established him as a leading actor in Telugu cinema.
