Born into a musical family from Pottepalem, Nellore, Thaman S grew up in Chennai and started playing rhythm pads at age nine under SPB and G. Anand’s team. Following his father’s death at 13, he dropped out and began working professionally in Raj‑Koti’s band—working on over 60 films. He later spent years with M. M. Keeravani and Mani Sharma, contributing programming and drumming on over 900 films before debuting as a composer in Kick (Telugu, 2009) and Sindhanai Sei (Tamil, 2009).
